Puppies

I don't breed often  so do not always have puppies available.  Below are the litters on the ground or in the planning stages, as well as links to friends I trust to recommend you to with puppies.
 

My philosophy

I breed for temperamentally sound, healthy dogs that can excel in the ring and in the field, while making great companions!  A dog is useless if it can't be a great pet first and foremost.  I strive to have a dog who can walk off the coursing field and into the therapy home, or even into a library to read books with kids and still win in the ring! I do tend to hold off breeding until dogs are older as you can't hope to weed out the three major health problems in Borzoi (Bloat, Cancer, & heart problems) as well as increase longevity if you go thru the generations quickly, so my dogs have been an average age of 5 for a litter.  As of 2011, my breeding stock is tested for Degenerative Myleopathy with results posted on the OFA website. Parents of all litters will also be officially AKC DNA'd which is an assurance that your puppy is out of the parents the papers state they are.  

 My dogs are slow to mature, as I feel that those are the dogs who 'last' longer, stay sound longer, and tend to stay with us longer. I see no reason to breed dogs who look like little adults at 6-12 months old. My dogs are mature enough for the show ring at 3+ yrs of age. There's too many other things to do with them before then.

 

If you MUST have a show puppy, you really should get a pup at 6+ months of age. Missing teeth and bad bites are part of the breed, as are gay tails, and you often have no clue until the puppy is over 6 months what you will get. It is a myth a dog will not bond with you if you don't get it at 8 wks. Properly raised and socialized, a dog will have no problem bonding with another owner. I have rehomed dogs at 5 yrs old and they've moved into their new homes like they've always been there and have no problems bonding with their new owners.

I don't believe in placing pups at less than 3 months.  After losing my first Borzoi puppy to parvo, I am very paranoid and want my puppies to have more than one shot before they are let go. Deposits can be made, just contact me for more information.   Like every good breeder, I require vet and personal references, as well as a Home check.  All puppies will be Microchipped. All pets go on spay & neuter contracts.

After the untimely lost of her sister, the unexpected gift of Secret meant she  came back to me. I have numerous plans for this luscious red head in the works which includes a VERY exciting litter next spring. She will be bred to Ch Zharkov Teine Briar, a nice linebreeding on the incomparable DC Silkenswift Blaze of Chaos SC, CD, LCMIV, SGRC, SORCII  as well as Ch Keshari Caballero of Shefaro CD, while adding a dose of the famous DC  Teine Windmaster of Foxwood. I expect sweet, sound moving dogs with prey drive and personality to spare.
