If you're lucky, you'll be given a pet who wraps themselves around your heart with their little claws. They own a piece of that heart and when they leave you, that piece of your heart goes with them.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. 
I would walk right up to heaven and bring you Home again.

I've been lucky enough to be gifted with two heart pets. Obie was the second. I hope he, like Schatzi, comes back to me in the future. Until then, I'll miss him horribly
